Matthew 28: 1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”
On our way to see Mr. Terry, Mrs. Lynette, & Jacqueline...
Are we there yet?
Finally! The exit to J's hometown.
J's parent's backyard looking towards the neighbor's barn.
This creek runs through the backyard. Isn't it beautiful?
Bayou joined in on the exploration.
J and I went to downtown Columbia while we were there. The 11th President of the United States, James Knox Polk, was born in North Carolina but lived in this house in Columbia, Tennessee before his presidency. It is his only private residence still standing. Recognized as the president who made the United States a coast-to-coast nation, Polk increased the United States landmass by a third.
The Maury County Courthouse on the square in downtown Columbia.
More of the square...
Lots of cute stores on the square. We didn't get anything from Pie Sensations but my mouth is watering just thinking about a slice of their Lemon Chess pie or Reese's Peanut Butter pie. Guess I'll have to wait until next time...
Square Market & Cafe has a yummy Rebel Reuben sandwich. J always opts for the Tennessee Hot Brown (Sliced Ham, Turkey & Bacon on White Toast, topped with White Sauce & Cheddar Cheese). I'm not positive but I think J was friends with the owner's son in high school. Something Lovell. I'll have to check with him later. Anyway, definitely stop in and grab a bite to eat at the Square Market & Cafe next time you're in Columbia :)
J and I also drove to Taft, Tennessee where our farm was to grab things we had been storing in one of the barns. This is Mitch & Cathy. They are renting the farm right now and putting it to good use. Finally an actual working farm! My Grandpa will be so pleased next time he goes to visit.
This is one of Mitch & Cathy's goats.
One of the beautiful horses they have on the property.
Lots of German beef cows.
Mitch & Cathy also have chickens and gave us some gorgeous farm fresh eggs to take back to J's parent's house. I say gorgeous because they were all different colors. It's hard to tell in the photograph because of the lighting but we had blue, green, brown, and cream colored eggs. Mitch & Cathy were so kind and we had a nice visit with them as we gathered our things.
Dying Easter eggs with J's family.
J with his Nana & Papa on Easter Sunday.
The Sullivan Family on their front porch. J, his Dad Terry, his Mom Lynette, and his sister Jacqueline. For some reason this picture reminds me of CD cover. Pretty soon Jacqueline will be a Tingle instead of a Sullivan. She and Chris are getting married on June 9th!
After one last jump in the pool, it was time to come home to NOLA. Bayou spent the majority of her weekend in the water. She is always so worn out after our Tennessee trips thanks to all the swimming and sunshine.
