BBQ & PULL-A-PART

After 2 incredibly long months of a bitter winter (temps dropped down to the mid 40's... oh my!) the heat and humidity have finally joined us again.  To celebrate the sunshine, J and I barbequed with friends this past Friday.  We carefully ignited the gas ensuring all eyelashes and eyebrows remained intact and threw some meat on the grill.  An hour later and dinner was served... grilled hotdogs (my favorite) and chicken.  It was so much fun relaxing and catching up with friends.  Too bad school monopolizes our free time or we would do this more often!

One of my favorite pictures from Friday night....

Lauren, Avery & Bayou

I'll admit J and I were a bit jealous after seeing the photo.  Bayou is not typically a licker or kisser.  Guess Lauren won her over!

It is too boring to get into for blogging purposes but J's car has had issues lately.  No exaggeration it has been going on for months now.  With the help of some friends and family (thank you Avery, Preston & Grandpa!) he finally figured out a fix.  We headed west to the other side of the Mississippi River and visited Pull-A-Part, the "premiere do-it-yourself used auto parts superstore."  I had never been somewhere like this before.  Had no idea such a place even existed.  Junked cars as far as the eye could see.  You bring your own tools, pay a $1 admission per person, check the computer inventory to find the lot location of the car or cars you need, head out on foot into the vast and expansive metal cemetery, find the car, remove whatever parts you need yourself, and then make the hike back to the main building and pay for your items.  We got very dirty very quickly but I had fun playing macho mechanic with J for the afternoon!

TYING THE KNOT

J and I had not 1, but 2 weddings to attend this past weekend.  Lauren & Madison were married Saturday, March 12th, in Oxford, Mississippi and Peyton & Dan were married Sunday, March 13th, in New Orleans, Louisiana.  J was actually in Lauren & Madison's wedding.  He and Madison have been friends since middle school and J & Lauren met during their undergrad days at Ole Miss.  J turned out to be quite the match maker, didn't he?!?  Dan and I met during undergrad at LSU and became instant friends.  He helped me through many a class and always knew where the party was.  I was relieved the weddings were on different days so that J and I could partake in both of the exciting events.  We pray both couples will have much love and joy in their lives together.  J's advice to Dan & Madison... "A happy wife is a happy life!"

KYLE'S WINGS & BENJ'S HOMECOMING

INTRODUCING
UNITED STATES NAVAL AVIATOR
MR. KYLE BRIAN HUFF

My youngest brother, Kyle, earned his wings February 25, 2011 at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida.  We are SO proud of everything he has accomplished.  Next up, Kyle is heading to San Diego, California for approximately 6 months and then Atsugi, Japan for 3 years.  You better believe J & I are going to visit him in Japan.  Some pics from the wonderful weekend...

My other brother, Benjamin, was not able to attend the winging ceremony.  He was finishing up a year in Iraq with the Army but has since arrived home safe and sound in Colorado this past Saturday, March 5th.  His wife and puppy dog were there to greet him with lots of hugs and kisses.  WELCOME HOME NOODLES!  J and I are SO happy you're back!
